Ongoing Series: Culture makers who made today’s culture makers.
A graduate of Vassar College, Monica Macer started her career in theatre in New York City as a playwright and director. After moving to Los Angeles, Monica turned her focus to feature and television development both as an assistant at Nickelodeon Movies and as a Creative Executive with the Walt Disney Company.
Shortly after leaving Disney, Monica landed the writers assistant position on the Fox show 24. After two seasons at 24, Monica got her big break as a staff writer on the legendary first season of the ABC hit show LOST. Monica then spent two seasons on the Fox show Prison Break before moving on to NBC’s Knight Rider. Monica is currently serving on the writing staff of MTV’s scripted show Teen Wolf as a co-producer. On the home front, Monica is married to actor/filmmaker Sterling Macer, Jr. and they are the proud parents of daughter Dylan Soon-Marie Macer. (2015 Note: Monica is currently a Producer/Writer for Nashville [ABC]).
I asked Monica, “Who are writers, artists, filmmakers, poets, musicians, films, books, plays, TV shows, or any other cultural artifact who have deeply influenced you and will always stick with you.”
.
Here’s Monica’s List of the Influencers who Influenced her:
Lorainne Hansberry (playwright)
Edna St. Vincent Millay (poet)
Once and Again (TV series) by Marshall Herskovitz and Edward Zwick
Cherry Jones‘ Tony Award-winning performance in the Lincoln Center production of The Heiress
Native Son by Richard Wright (novel)

What’s on your “Fab 15″ list?
Caveat: Your list must be comprised of cultural artifacts–books, shows, sculptures, etc. that readers have access to. (So you can’t include your Mom, or some other leader no matter how great a personal impact they had on you.) Make your list as quickly as possible and send it to me through the “contact” box!
